Putting together the perfect team may seem easy, because you think you know great people. Little do you know, there's more to be found in the perfect team composition than being a great person. There are many items that should be checked off of a list and it goes further than characteristics of a team member. To learn more about how you can put together the perfect team and environment, read further.

1. Know what you stand for

Without knowing more about the values of the company and their vision for success, you won't be able to narrow down your team member selection. Curate and develop the perfect vision, values, and manifesto in order to support the team as a foundation.

2. Build an advisory board

Much like our first step, creating an advisory board starts with having and knowing your purpose. By creating an advisory board and coming to terms with this, you'll be able to select someone who has the specific skill set you're looking for, instead of someone who has the same set of skills for an entirely different environment, which won't be effective in this new environment.

3. Use emotional intelligence

Just because it's a professional environment, doesn't mean that team members should completely disregard emotions. Emotional intelligence is extremely important behind the scenes of any brand.

4. Strong communication is key

We may have mentioned that you shouldn't completely disregard emotions, however, strong communication is necessary and as firm and openly as possible. When this can be done without creating a hostile environment, you have yourself the perfect team. This adds to the culture and environment of the office space, allowing open and healthy discussion while everyone is able to know their task and what to work on. Without communication, the goal will not be successfully completed - and by successfully, we don't just mean turned in, we also mean the work being done right.

5. Implement a rewards system

It's great to work and have the reward be success or completion of the goal, but more often than not, team members are more willing to do their job successfully, efficiently, and quickly when there is a reward to obtain. If you have a ranking or pyramid system that gives a reward when you reach a certain level, employees may find themselves more motivated to get that specific goal down to get the reward.

Effective team composition

The five aspects above will help even the newest amateurs in creating the perfect team composition. Just because you know 5 people from your old office that can bring a fun environment, doesn't mean they're the perfect makeup in terms of emotional intelligence, communication, and motivation. By implementing the above, you'll be able to create the perfect work environment to successfully complete projects and meet client needs.
