How To Pitch Online Like A Pro

how to pitch online like a pro

The days where we use our manually written notes and our diaries to pitch a presentation are long gone. We live in a world where a life-changing idea can be contained on a flash drive no bigger than a cinnamon stick. In fact, you probably do not even have to be at a physical space in order to pitch an idea – it is far easier to do it online. This is a method that requires refining your presentation skills and here are a few ways that you can implement in order to pitch like a pro.

Elements of great presentation

While online presentation may not appear as formal as a physical presentation, you have cannot treat it any less. It is still a presentation and it needs your full preparation. You need to pay attention to the elements that make your presentation great – accurate statistics, interesting layout, and a structure that is easy to follow. You should also keep in mind that you need to work from an area that is clean and presentable; you can’t for instance work from your child’s bedroom. Keep yourself clean and well-spoken and make sure you can email copies to those who are involved.

Learn to present on video

An easier way of online presentation is doing it via video. This is a more favourable option because you are not under the pressure of being live and making mistakes. You can easily delete the recording and start over. You can also edit the video to improve sound and image quality to ensure that it reaches the audience in a professional manner. Upload it onto your social media site which will allow your followers to go back to the video and watch it at any time they please.

Share stories, useful advice, and tips generously

When presenting a topic, you need to put yourself in the position of a professional because that is exactly what you are! People listen to you because they value your opinion and they have evaluated you as someone who knows what he or she is talking about. Share your stories, tips and advice generously – it will help keep it authentic and show people that you are also a regular person who achieved greatness by means of hard work. Motivate them to continue striving in building the life they want for themselves by using yourself as an example.

Engage with your audience

The most common mistake people make is that they distance themselves from their audience and they treat the presentation like they are talking to the camera alone. You are talking to hundreds of people and you need to show that in your presentation. Engage with your audience like you would in a live session.

Use the soft sell method

Never be too abrupt or obvious about what you are doing. People will immediately shy away from you and whatever you are selling. Be subtle and soft and put it in a way that is not too ‘salesy’. The soft sell method always works best and it helps to reach the affective domain of a person.
